Det bromerade flamskyddsmedlet HBCDD anv\u00e4nds som modellsubstans i detta projekt, ett \u00e4mne som numera \u00e5terfinns h\u00f6gt upp i \u00d6stersj\u00f6ns n\u00e4ringsv\u00e4var (t ex. gr\u00e5s\u00e4l, sillgrissla). Detta projekt kommer s\u00e5ledes ocks\u00e5 att 2) bidra med v\u00e4rdefull kunskap om de ekologiska riskerna med HBCDD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00d6stersj\u00f6n \u00e4r ett innanhav som \u00e4r h\u00e5rt drabbat av olika milj\u00f6problem, inklusive en kontinuerlig exponering av en komplex blandning av kemikalier. Det \u00e4r inte realistiskt att kr\u00e4va att vi ska kunna skaffa oss utf\u00f6rlig kunskap om alla risker f\u00f6r m\u00e4nniskor och milj\u00f6 f\u00f6r alla dessa olika \u00e4mnen. D\u00e4remot b\u00f6r man efterstr\u00e4va att i s\u00e5 stor utstr\u00e4ckning som m\u00f6jligt f\u00f6rst\u00e5 viktiga ekologiska faktorer och processer som har betydelse f\u00f6r effekten av kemiska f\u00f6roreningar p\u00e5 \u00d6stersj\u00f6ns kustn\u00e4ra ekosystem, och d\u00e4rigenom ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6r m\u00e4nniskan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I tidigare projekt har vi med olika angreppss\u00e4tt unders\u00f6kt 1) vilka faktorer som p\u00e5verkar hur i f\u00f6rsta hand hydrofoba organiska milj\u00f6gifter f\u00f6rdelar sig i \u00d6stersj\u00f6ns kustn\u00e4ra mjukbottensamh\u00e4llen, samt 2) hur modellekosystem, s.k. mikrokosmer, kan anv\u00e4ndas f\u00f6r att ge ut\u00f6kad f\u00f6rst\u00e5else om effekterna av f\u00f6roreningar i \u00d6stersj\u00f6n. Vi avser nu utveckla detta kunskapsomr\u00e5de ytterligare genom att belysa f\u00f6ljande fr\u00e5gest\u00e4llningar i en serie experimentella studier i modellekosystem:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Vilken betydelse har sammans\u00e4ttningen (struktur, biodiversitet) f\u00f6r effekten av organiska milj\u00f6f\u00f6roreningar i \u00d6stersj\u00f6ns kustn\u00e4ra ekosystem? 2. Hur p\u00e5verkar tillg\u00e5ngen p\u00e5 organiskt kol fr\u00e5n pelagialen (algblomningar) mjukbottensamh\u00e4llenas stressrespons vid exponering av milj\u00f6f\u00f6roreningar? 3. Vilken betydelse har tidigare f\u00f6roreningshistorik f\u00f6r effekterna av p\u00e5g\u00e5ende f\u00f6rorening? 4. Hur p\u00e5verkas ekosystemen vid exponering f\u00f6r en komplex blandning av f\u00f6roreningar? 5. Har sammans\u00e4ttning, tillg\u00e5ng p\u00e5 organiskt kol resp. f\u00f6roreningsstatus (se 1-3 ovan) betydelse f\u00f6r hur hydrofoba milj\u00f6f\u00f6roreningar f\u00f6rdelar sig i ekosystemen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projektgruppen \u00e4r sammansatt av forskare med en bred kompetens inom bl. a. marin ekologi, ekotoxikologi och riskbed\u00f6mning. Etablerade samarbeten finns med experter inom exempelvis riskfilosofi, mikrobiologi, kulturgeografi, samt gentoxikologi genom exv. Dr Katarzyna Smolarz fr\u00e5n Polen.
