The first decision of the year on smaller grants

2026-04-01

As part of our work to promote research initiation and internationalisation, as well as to enhance visibility and collaboration, Östersjöstiftelsen – The Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies decided, in this year’s first round of calls for smaller grants, to award funding to two conference grants and five research networks.

The purpose of conference grants is to promote international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and dissemination of research findings on Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Europe.

The research network grants are intended either to establish new networks or to strengthen existing collaborations between researchers. The networks should be research-initiating and contribute to future research through academic meetings and contacts. These should enable researchers to define, delimit and formulate research ideas that may, in the long term, lead to applications for research funding.
